Multi-layer timber sections with opposing grains, balances warping and combats twisting.
This multi-layer structure is particularly effective in resisting
warping and twisting as the opposing grains balance movement caused by
natural moisture. It is the twisting of timber during wet weather
rather than the swelling itself which causes windows and doors to jam.
We use multi-layer timber sections solid length or finger-jointed as
standard throughout our range.
Extremely efficient glazing units.
All products are glazed as standard with double-glazed units which
incorporate an enhanced thermally insulating glass to provide an
extremely low U-value. We further improve the efficiency of the unit by
filling the cavity with argon gas. The result is glazing unit U-value = 1.0 W/m2K (according to EN-674),
which gives insulation up to 3 times better than traditional double
glazing.
High performance fittings system.
IPA fittings are installed in our flush casement windows. IPA is the
leading Danish window fittings manufacturer. IPA system provides a
comprehensive range of window opening options based on single timber
profile.
Low aluminium glazing bead.
To
prevent wood deterioration and peeling of paint from the window area
most exposed to moisture, low horizontal wooden glazing bead has been
replaced by an aluminium one. As the result, most important part of the
window frame has been well secured.
Neat, coloured gasket seals.
Purpose-made grooves are provided internally and externally for fitting
the EPDM gasket to protect against water penetration. Factory applied
appropriate coloured gaskets ensure a perfect, unobtrusive seal.
Drainage and ventilation channels help prevent misting in double glazing.
Drainage and ventilation channels protect against the failure of double
glazed units which occurs in conventional systems when glazing units
are allowed to have contact with water that has been trapped within the
frame.
Factory applied micro-porous coatings provide maximum protection with minimum maintenance.
Factory painting prior to assembly best protects timber from moisture
absorption and is essential for longevity. All our products receive a
base coat of timber preservative, then a primer coat, followed by two
coats of micro-porous paint. In general one should expect our coatings
to last from five to eight years without the need for re-treatment.
Redecoration itself is a very simple task as no sanding down or
preparation required. An average window should take about thirty
minutes to re-decorate.
